This volume was created on the occasion of the first edition of the MAC Macugnaga Arte Cultura AWARD and the exhibition Mountains of paper by Gianni Maffi, Mountain and Smuggling Museum, Macugnaga (VB), 1 – 31 August 2016.
The photographic project Mountains of paper by Gianni Maffi was born in 2008 as a reconnaissance of the mountain territories according to the happy tradition of the Journey to Italy, reinvigorated by Basilico's New Italian Landscape school, I grew up, Guidi, Barbieri, Jodice, to name some of its representatives.
Photographer interested in issues related to urban planning, to the development and transformation of the landscape, Gianni Maffi measures himself with the physical spaces of the mountain by adopting the point of view of the explorer who walks through them, silent observer, without, however, limiting itself to the recording of naturalistic data.
