Meet The Author

Located on the immediate heights of Albissola Marina (SV): Jorn House Museum offers the most incredible and amazing experience of a natural and architectural environment created by the free imagination of one of the most important artists of the twentieth century: Asger Jorn (Denmark, Vejrum 1914 – Aarhus 1973).

Arrived in Albissola in the spring of 1954, in 1957 Jorn bought two ancient buildings and the surrounding land and, with the indispensable help of his friend and assistant Umberto Gambetta (Berto), he restructured and modified the environment creating a total work of art, an organic set of space, form, spontaneous colors, free and lively able to improve the lives of people and the community.

Daniele Panucci, curator of the Museum since 2017, guides us through the history and environments of the House - now also home to exhibitions and cultural events - inviting us to get to know this place better - already so full of history, visual signs and multisensory stimuli - through the modality of reading and rereading, first, during and after the visit.

The volume is accompanied by a preface by Luca Bochicchio and an appendix of Stella Cattaneo dedicated to the cultural itineraries around the Jorn House Museum.
