Volume published on the occasion of the exhibition “Mimmo Iacopino. Chimeras and…”, edited by Sabina Melesi, Melesi of Galleria, Lecco, 28 September – 24 November 2019.
"In an era convinced of living with and for images but which in reality betrays images systematically, paying them very little attention and downgrading them to the speed of a glance at Instagram from the small screen of a mobile phone, photography seems to cry out for greater respect and a less hasty and fickle use. Mimmo Iacopino, trained as a still life photographer in the environments of Studio Azzurro and with a strong past in advertising and a present in visual art, puts his knowledge at the service of a renewed interest in the image: an interest that translates into technical experimentation and creative originality.
They are born like this, with this desire for interaction with the photographic image, the Chimeras, that already from the title reveal their own complex and ambiguous identity. Chimeras, hybrids therefore, strange encounters between different worlds and creatures that attract our attention by imposing adequate consideration on us in an attempt to understand what we are observing ".
