Eight years after his death the city of Savona dedicated to Mario Rossello a major retrospective exhibition staged in the halls of the Palace on the Fortress of the Commissioner of Priamar. As often happens during retrospectives dedicated to the great art of the twentieth century, the budget posthumous artistic activity inevitably leads to reason about epochal historical passages that involve entire communities. In this sense the intense production of Mario Rossello since the 50s is a witness to the cross of his time tested techniques - painting, sculpture, ceramics - and his experience that involves three basic artistic centers in the cultural climate of the 60s and 70s: Albissola, Savona and Milan. In the paintings of great size as in ceramic sculptures, marble, iron, glass, bronze and public works, the shape of the tree is almost obsessively as a warning ecologist, especially as a symbol of the indissoluble spiritual link between man and land.
