The project "The Amber Way. Reloading "by Lolita Timofeeva and Valentinaki has the long-term objective of re-proposing it in other European locations geographically located on the ancient trade route known as the Amber Road that stretched from the Baltic Sea to the Mediterranean Sea. The city indeed, as well as being one of the most vital cultural centers of contemporary Italy, having been twinned with Riga since 2000, celebrates the twentieth anniversary of this intense relationship this year. Twinning means meeting, comparison, creation of a common path and the two artists undoubtedly offer a significant contribution to building ever closer ties.
The due artist, united by the love for Latvia, their homeland, and for Italy, where they have chosen to live and work, they came together to pay homage to the two countries and their history of European belonging. They chose the metaphor of amber to address the theme of memory, completing itself through the dialogue between two visions: one on the past and the other on the future, without neglecting the dramatic present.
