Catalog of the exhibition “Dimitri Fagbohoun | The Journey of Erzulie”, by Silvia Cirelli, 6 February - 19 April 2020, Yards of Image, Milan.
“Born in Benin, grew up in Cameron and then moved to Paris for more than twenty years, Dimitri Fagbohoun (Benin, ’72) projects his own composite transcultural identity into art, and ranging from sculpture, videos and installations, it pushes towards a grammatical eclecticism that enhances themes such as memory, politics, religion and the poetic dimension of existence. In a visionary narrative that plays on the balance between the visible and the invisible, the artist confronts the vulnerability of the human being, exploring the processes of creation and destruction. In this visceral crossing, the magic of memory, as well as the deconstruction of reality they allow to reach an unprecedented perceptual dimension e, for this, absolutely human ".
