Published on the occasion of the exhibition SOFIA RUIZ UGALDE | ON & OFF, nothing is real edited by Carolina Lio, GiaMaArt Studio, Vitulano (BN), 19 October – 31 December 2013.
Sofia Ruiz Ugalde, young artist from Costa Rican international route, after being selected for various awards and residencies between Latin America and the United States, and after having taken part in important projects from The Mosan Art Museum in South Korea at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, presents his first solo show in a major Italian recapitulation of his research, marked on the thin and weak boundary between real and unreal. The sample, in fact, is composed of a series of portraits of children in real contexts unreal, representing the various subjects so tender and disturbing at the same time, veiled atmosphere slightly anxious.
