The artistic research that Ersilia Sarrecchia has undertaken in recent years, and of which this exhibition documents the praiseworthy fruits, it is based precisely on the concept of originality. In his case we can speak of an original double: the former in the dedominicisian sense of the term, linked to the pole of painting, the other aimed at the pole of artistic representation focused on the figure of the woman understood in her identity function as a generator.
The exhibition that the artist presents at the Smac space in Rome consists of two series of works, the last of which, entitled "Women", composed of twenty-seven paintings, it is a direct consequence of the first, "Remote present", of which twelve works are exhibited.
Sarrecchia leaves, as in the well-known painting by Courbet "The origin of the world", by highlighting the female sex, placed in the foreground by the artist only with the intention of affirming its germinative values, without any reference of an erotic nature – voyeristica. I'm, de facto, of the shots of female private parts of which only some fragments are perceived being transfigured by the juxtaposition of writings, subjects, signs and colors of an expressionist matrix – abstract, that cross the entire compositional surface making it vibrant with energy.
"Like a constantly moving mitosis" - writes the artist about this cycle of works - "they become subjects that suggest the point of birth; anatomies poised between the existing and the visionary ".
