Since the early years of his artistic production, Alessandra Rovelli he focused his attention on material naturalism characterized by a language of substantial monochrome which elected the lands of the fields and other organic elements applied to canvases, even of large dimensions, as pictorial material.
From 2016 Rovelli works almost exclusively on cardboard boxes which she covers with canvas, thus considerably reducing the dimensions of the works in which strength and expressiveness are concentrated, enhanced by the three-dimensionality of the support.
Lightened by the density of the materials, the new paintings reveal the luministic-atmospheric research and, in general fidelity to the motifs of the Lombard landscape dear to the author, they allow themselves unprecedented forays into distant lands such as Alaska and Siberia.
What emerges is an evolutionary painting, capable of coherence and clarity of purpose.
