Thomas Berra is the new guest artist of the non-profit project bank ART SYSTEM, dedicated to the enhancement of the creative heritage of young Italian artists (www.bancasistemarte.it).

The staff “Casabarata” represents the outcome of a process that began in December 2013 and Tangeri, in Marocco, where Thomas Berra has just completed an artist residency program. Exchange, research and interaction are the underlying themes of this work that, united enthusiasm and energy that Morocco has returned to the artist, are brought to Milan within the space of Bank System.
The sample, that unfolds over two floors in the offices of the Bank, comprising: 28 framed drawings on paper by the themes and colors with strong Moroccan influences, 32 free designs in shades of blue and a triptych by the size Baconian whose protagonists are a tree and “Liars”, Timbro in Thomas Berra dal 2012.
Complete exposure of the symbol shows, the totemic work that represents the summary of all this work: “Casabarata”, a real home to over two meters in height, made of wood and recycled materials. A symbol taken from their home in Milan Barata, the popular market of Tangiers.
The exhibition is therefore the result of a journey, whose influence is found with evidence in the artist, never forgetting the starting point, but enriching consciousness.
Bank System also publishes a bilingual catalog (Italian and English) the exhibition with an essay by Michael Bonuomo and a contribution of Matthew Zinesi. The catalog is printed and distributed by Vanillaedizioni.
The exhibition will open on Wednesday 16 April and will remain on display in the office of the Bank System (in Corso Monforte 20 a Milano) up to 16 July 2014. Participation is by invitation inauguration.
The non-profit project bank SYSTEM ART stems from the desire of the Bank System to support and promote emerging talent in the arts and cultural, providing young people with opportunities and privileged channels visibility, including through regular exhibitions at the premises of the Bank in Rome and Milan. “Casabarata” is the ninth exposure that is hosted and promoted within the project since its launch, took place in autumn 2011.
