Elena Bellantoni
Elena Bellantoni (1975) artist and teacher ABAQ L'Aquila, ABA Rome and NABA of Rome. Graduated in History of Contemporary Art, she studies in Paris and London, where in 2007 obtained an MA in Visual Art from the University Art of London. In 2007 she is co-founder Platform Translation Group in London, in 2008 The 91mQ art project space in Berlin opens. His artistic research focuses on the concepts of identity and otherness - exploring territories and communities - using the body and language as means of interaction. The devices that the artist uses range from video, to photography, to installations, from sculptures to drawing. In 2024 Bellantoni is selected among the finalist artists of the Mario Merz Prize at the Merz Foundation in Turin. In 2023 the artist opens the Dior spring-summer fashion show 2024 with the installation NOT HER at the Tuileries Gardens in Paris. Among the residencies and awards: 2020 vince it Arteam Cup Award; 2018 vince Nctm and the Art Law Firm with residence in Belgrade, Athens and Istanbul; 2017 The Subtle Urgencies, at the Pistoletto Foundation and the ArtHouse, Italy/Albania; 2016 selected by Soma Mexico, for residence in Mexico City; 2009 As long as I’m walking residence with Francis Alÿs and Cuauthémoc Medina, curata da 98weeks, Beiruth. In 2018 he is among the winning artists of the fourth edition of the Italian Council of MIBACT; in 2019 presents the project book at the MAXXI in Rome with a focus on all his video production. In 2018 is selected in the Collaterals of Manifesta12 in Palermo and for Grand Tour of Italy del MIBACT. In 2014 wins the Repubblica.it special prize at the Talent Prize; 2012 with In Other Words, the Black Market of Translation – Negotiating Contemporary Cultures vince il bando NGBK in Berlino con mostra alla Kunstraum Kreuzberg Bethanien. In 2009 vince it Movin’up Worldwide of GAI (Young Italian Artists) by the Presidency of the Italian Council of Ministers for residence in Santiago de Chile; in 2006 vince it Tempelhof-Schöneberg Kunstpreis of Berlin.
